Most of us have feelings of unhappiness or sadness at some point in our lives. Depression is more complicated. There are specific symptoms that can determine if you have depression.
1. Having a hopeless or helpless outlook on your life is the most common symptom of depression. You may also feel worthless or experience strong feelings of guilt.
2. Little interest in anything. Depression can take the pleasure out of things you previously enjoyed. This may include work, hobbies, exercise, food, being with friends and even sex.
3. Increased tiredness, trouble falling or staying asleep. Feeling fatigue which can be incredibly debilitating and can lead to excessive sleep.
4. Mentally criticizing yourself about the same things on a daily basis.
